Vidalia City Schools Partners With Meadows on Literacy Initiative!
Vidalia City Schools has partnered with Memorial Health Meadows Hospital to ensure that all babies get an early start on literacy. Awarded the Georgia Department of Education L4GA grant (Literacy for Learning, Living, and Leading) grant earlier this year, Vidalia City Schools is using the funding to improve literacy in our community.
Assistant Superintendent Ginger B. Morris says that one of the initiatives is “increasing access to literacy bundles for mothers-to-be when bringing home their “Bundle of Joy.”
The slogan, “Our Bundle of Joy for Your Bundle of Joy!” was aptly named by Morris, who said, “Vidalia City Schools is proud to partner with Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in this endeavor.”
“The bundle of joy includes 2 books that can be read to babies, foam letters to learn the alphabet, and information on expected literacy milestones for babies as they grow and eventually become excited Pre-K students in the Vidalia City School System!” Morris said.
